In the summer of 2013, 10 year old Elias Roman visited Dr. Ira Biderman at his practice in Howard Beach, NY. The visit included a short tour of the facilities, an d a full explanation of what was going to transpire while he was there. Once all the preliminaries were completed, Elias felt comfortable enough to let Dr. B do his magic. In no time flat, Elias had a cleaning  done and even learned that he had no cavities and was given a clean bill of health.

Needless to say, his mother, Nieki, was ecstatic, and his father Nicolas, was proud. “Usually kids lose their minds when they get to the dentist’s office, but surprisingly, my boy was able to keep his cool and get it all done with no outbursts or without causing a scene. What more can I ask for?” The secret sauce to Dr. Biderman’s care is his ability to connect with kids and treat them like little adults.

By talking about what they are going to experience while they are there, Dr. Biderman calms a child’s worst fears, and gets them focused on the process instead of the pain they believe they will have to suffer through. By the end of the cleaning, the staff gave Elias a bag of treats to take home as he was making his way out of the office. Nicolas and Nieki were both asked if they would consider coming back to Dr. Biderman’s office in the future, and before the question was finished being asked, they both gave a resounding, “Yes!!”
